Chairman, Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP), Asif Zaman Ansari paid a surprise visit on Wednesday to the TCP godowns in Pipri, Landhi and Korangi after receiving complaints that the staff was charging certain amount illegally for the loading of sugar and cotton.

Talking to newsmen on mobile phone from Landhi godown, where he was satisfied with the performance of staff, Ansari told that he found such irregularities especially at Pipri godown.

"The Clerk at Pipri godown was found charging Rs 50 per truck from the transporters for loading of cotton and sugar, I ordered them to return the money ," he told adding that even the workers engaged by the contractor were charging Rs 2 per bag in addition to their wages paid by the contractor, which he stopped. Besides, there was no security staff at Pipri and the cotton bales were lying in open outside the godown, he told.

TCP chairman told that the cotton bales were procured last year and now they are being released to buyers while the imported sugar is also being dispatched to all the four provinces.
